Good afternoon, gentle readers, and welcome back to your regular dose of frivolity and fun with TGIF – Fun Fridays!
The past couple of weeks here at Jugnoo have been a whirlwind of activity (some might even say a frenzy), which meant that while fun was had, recording it for your enjoyment was lost in the hubbub.
Fear not, friends – we’re back with a giggly vengeance.
Happy Birthday to ‘Noo!
First and foremost: today is our birthday!
You read right – Jugnoo is two years old, and you’re the ones getting all the presents! There are more details to come, but we celebrated by adding Google+, Tumblr and Posterous to our dashboard’s ‘Social Post’ feature, and incorporating BufferApp for your scheduling pleasure.
Add our Tweet Visualizer (replace our default search term with your own to see your own buzz!) and Social Hub, and we’re talking a birthday haul that satiates even the biggest social wishlist.
Note: The official release of these new features is Monday August 13, but we thought we’d give you a sneak heads up here!
Our second birthday means that we’re developing a sense of self and establishing independence, as well as being able to perform basic self-care duties, including potty training.
There will be cake.
So. Very. Mixed.
First up is Social Mix 2012. There have been so many great posts that have been written about the day, that, really, there isn’t a thing I could say that would add to the conversation.
I will, however, tell you this: if you weren’t able to join us, then you may not ever know the true levels of the day’s excitement. You may never fully understand the epic levels of awesome achieved. There is no blog post that I could ever write, no Instagram shot, no screencap from Twitter that could truly capture the event.
Not to rub it in, or anything.
For everyone else who was in attendance – you understand.
#SoMyth2012
Now, we’d all like to believe that our #SoMix2012 hashtag caused the now-famous (soon to be forgotten) Twitter breakdown. After all, we were one of Canada’s top trends all day long! Hessie Jones once told me that she always wanted to start a top trending topic on Twitter – can we say ‘bucket list’, anyone?
However, we have to set the story straight: it was probably the Olympics.
10,000 Vayniacs
There was some panic in the room when the one and only Gary Vaynerchuk had tweeted that his flight was delayed due to that dreaded curse: inclement weather.
Imagine, if you would, the sheer terror I experienced as I monitored the tweet stream in between hosting duties as that tweet went by. Time stood still. Seconds turned to hours. I aged seventeen years.
I exaggerate. Still – it was nerve-wracking.
Nevertheless, the gods of airline travel turned their kind visages upon those of at the Fairmont Royal York and smiled. GaryVee made it on time, owned the stage with his own particular brand of expletive-laden awesome, inspired the crowd and brought everyone to their feet. Thank you, Gary – you were well worth the million tiny heart attacks that you caused me to have.
If you want the full Gary Vee experience (yah, you know you do), check out his full Social Mix 2012 presentation!
WARNING: This video contains f-bombs. This video may also cause you to scrap your entire business plan and start from scratch with a more customer-centric culture.
What We Found Online: Photos Best Left Unposted
Finally, we’re going to leave you with something that has brought us much joy over the past week: the incredible work of photographer Irina Werning. Her ‘Back to the Future’ series is jaw-dropping in its level of detail, tender and evocative… and completely hilarious.

Check out her work on her website, and be amazed at how accurate her painstaking recreations of family photographs can really get (and NSFW-ish).
We’re so obsessed that we combed the ‘Jugnoo Archives’ (read: painstakingly Face-stalked our employees) to find these gems that we would like to see get the full Irina treatment.

We know that those just made your day. You’re welcome.

“Jugnoo is two years old,”
Happy birthday peeps and many off em.

I know that video!
I only steal from the best.
Thanks for the birthday props, Keith!
There was plenty of celebratory ‘table tennis’ (read: beer pong), pizza and party times. Hopefully there’ll be many of those, too! ;
You know I can’t unsee that picture of Matt, right? :-0
It is permanent
Brain bleach: is there an app for that?
