Team Jugnoo, Assemble: Tech Geekery and Face-Stuffing Edition
It would probably be a safe bet to say that here at Jugnoo we all truly love two things: the latest in online technology, and food.
That means we’re about to take on a romance of epic proportions over the next week as we cover two of Toronto’s most popular events - NXNEi and the Toronto Underground Market (TUM)!
Join us as we live-blog from TUM, giving you the inside scoop (hand-churned, organic ice cream, preferably) as we talk to local chefs about the foodie movement in Toronto, and how social media helps them get noticed.
Follow us on Twitter with the #JugnooTUM hashtag – it’s the next best thing to being there!
Then yours truly, Community Manager Helen Androlia, will be heading out to cover the best of one of Canada’s largest social media and technology festivals, North By Northeast Interactive.
I’ll be tweeting insights from NXNEi events, panels, and workshops all day long, and then packaging it all into a big, daily blog for your convenience and delight!
Follow @JugnooMe on Twitter, or check back here daily for insider access to the thought leadership and breaking news that are all part of the NXNEi excitement.
It Really Happened, We Swear: Team Jugnoo Goes Batty
There was a stirring in the office this week as members of Team Jugnoo prepared to venture outside. For the record, we do that occasionally, but rarely in such numbers.
There had been rumours (substantiated by photographs from developer Ian) that the Dark Knight’s very own Tumbler was mere blocks away, and some very devoted fans were not going to let the opportunity to see this majestic vehicle for themselves pass them by.

Yes – it’s true. The evidence speaks for itself. There it was, at Bay and Adelaide, and eyewitness accounts say that it’s every bit as awesome in person as it is onscreen.
Look at the giddy, unbridled joy on their faces! The only thing that would make this photo better is Toronto Batman. I, for one, missed it because I was too busy tweeting to notice the mass exodus.
I’m not bitter. I swear.
Moral of the story? When half the office leaves en masse, you should just get up and follow them. They’re obviously going somewhere TOTALLY AWESOME. Don’t rob yourself of the opportunity to experience this same glee: check out when Batman’s Tumbler is coming your city!
All the Memes: A Flood of Spoofs
Last Friday in Toronto there was a little less fun and a lot more flooding than usual, as the heavens opened up and a torrential rain brought transit traffic to a grinding halt as most of Union Station ended up underwater.
Some of Team Jugnoo didn’t take it so well. Plaintive wails from the GO commuters resounded throughout the hallways! A Greek chorus of resigned sighs from TTC users became the sole source of conversation! Savvy staffers were buying cab company shares by the thousands!
Okay, perhaps I’m being overly dramatic, but I would be lying if I told you that the majority of us weren’t more than a little annoyed by the inconvenience.
But when life gives you storm-drenched lemons, the internet makes you delicious meme-filled lemonade! Behold: the Union Station flood meme!

Toronto became home to sharks, white water rafting, cannonball dives, and, my personal favourite, the Log Driver’s Waltz… which may be a little too obscure for some of our non-Canadian audience, or those born after 1990. Sorry about that.

The coming weeks promise to be drier, and that’s cause for celebration, but let’s be honest: relentless sunshine and warm weather aren’t half as funny.
Anyone want to start an awkward sunburn meme with me?
Until next week!

I laughed and laughed when I first saw the KoolAid pic. So amazing. All we need now is the Jell-O tree!!
@belllindsay What is this Jell-O Tree you speak of? Like, just nailing a box of Jell-O (preferably orange flavour) to a tree? Because I think we can do that. I can ask the interns.
You have certainly captured the quirky irreverence of live inside a lean startup. I love it.
@jasonkonopinski Thank you! To be honest, though – I just call ‘em as I see ‘em. So, my compliments to Team Jugnoo for providing me with so much inspiration!
@HelenAndrolia Content surrounds us.
The Tumbler is well worth seeing. I’d pay a couple of bucks to drive that thing.
@TheJackB Well, I missed my chance. Sigh, sigh, sigh. Do me a favour and pretend that it actually was super boring and completely unremarkable?
