I am, indeed, a Canadian blogger, reporter, video host and web content specialist heading down to SXSWi for the very first time, DSLR and microphone in tow. I’m looking forward to documenting my experience as I do all of my adventures in a way that’s entertaining, highly visual and humorous. The insider access to interviews (and extra scrilla from Jugnoo) would be wicked.

Unlike last year where I participated in an epic road trip and actually drove from Vancouver to Austin, I’ll be flying in with an ever growing band of fellow Vancouverites and friends from all over the world. Hotel & badge was booked last summer in order to get a great room across from the convention centre. I’ve previously spoken at Interactive and have many lifelong friends at the annual ‘geek summer camp’.

Hey folks!  Please consider this my official tossing of my Stetson hat into the ring for this contest to become the Jugnoo guest blogger at SXSW.
 
I think I need to tell you up front I’m an American.  But as I’ve noted in this thread earlier I’m from Minnesota, which we think of as Canada’s 11th province, or 4th territory, depending on how settled you think Minnesota is.
 
On behalf of my fellow 300 million Americans I would like to thank you for opening up this contest to all of us down here, but please ignore any entries from anyone else from the US.   They don’t love you as much as I do, and I know more about social media software platforms than all of them except David Armano and Brian Solis. (and they’re not entering, so that leaves just me, eh?)
 
We have so much in common.  I can sing “Oh Canada,” as a result of watching millions of “ockey” games on the television.  I even know some of the French lines, the ones that start with “Carton bras,” though I can’t tell you what that means, (nudge, nudge, wink, wink.)
 
I am an official blogger, not one of those transient, flighty drug-hopped bloggers who post once and then forget they have a blog.  I can spell, I know punctuation, and I know how to clearly split an infinitive.  I publish all over the Interwebs including at Social Media Today, where I am renowned for my vitriolic, irrational rants about the stupid, bloodthirsty pigs at Klout.  
 
I promise to be sober at least some of the time while I am blogging for you, which is probably more than you can say.  Admit it., I right, right?   I will be back in my room well before sunrise to shower and change clothes before reporting to work.  I’ve bought enough Red Bull to raise an elephant from the dead.  I have a Texas Longhorns baseball cap, and I can hold a beer in one hand and type a blog post on my iPhone in less than half an hour, depending on if there are “five” or “ten” rules in the headline.  
 
I promise to write wonderful things about Jugnoo. I really will.  
 
I will use my VIP access to talk with famous, important people like David Armano and Brian Sollis and Danny Brown.   I’ll ask them tricky leading questions about how lousy most social media platforms are, but how lovely and easy to work with Jugnoo is, or will be when it’s actually released.   I will tell them that Jugnoo is actually a French word which is pronounced “Shay-Noo,” like a cologne.   
 
I will avoid getting into arguments with these important folks or yelling at them for any reason, unless they really provoke me.  In that case, watch out.  My hands are lethal weapons.
 
I’ll take the VIP Press Pass and you can *keep* the Canadian money you intend to give me.  Please contribute it to save beavers, which I understand are Canada’s national animals and are threatened.  Save as many beavers as you can, on me.  
 
Finally, If I don’t win, there is no God.
